Amity Township Ordinance No. 91-127 states it is mandatory for all Residents and Businesses in Amity Township to recycle!
All new residents are asked to stop in at the Township office to pick up their recycling bin and the flyer explaining what is and what is not accepted. Your recycling is suggested to be put out at curbside every Thursday night for pick up on Friday morning. Anyone living along the major arteries: Route 422, Route 662 and Route 562 pick up will be done between the hours of 4:00am and 6:00am. All other streets pick ups will begin after 6:00am. If the recycling company mistakenly misses picking up your recycling, please call the Township office so we can contact the contractor.

Recycling bins cost $12.50.

Commercial establishments should contact their trash hauler to make arrangements for the picking up of their recyclables. Amity Township Ordinance No. 91-127, section 1, Paragraph 8 stipulates that commercial establishments submit annual written reports indicating the number of tons recycled each year to Amity Township by January 31.

Holiday Recycling
If the holiday ( New Years, Independence Day or Christmas) falls on a Friday, your collection would be made on Saturday.

Drop Off Points for Yard Waste
Amity has a drop off point for yard waste - 2004 Weavertown Road during the hours of 7:30am and 3:00pm Mondays through Fridays
Acceptable materials are: leaves, brush, stumps, pallets, clean wood, yard waste, skids, forms, molding, flake board, metamine board, press board, composite board, wood trusses, wood reels, land clearing materials, mold patterns, creosote and pental woods (railroad ties, floor blocks, telephone poles, --no CCA or Green Poles accepted) woods applied with finishes, laminate woods, plywood, crates, burlap, painted woods that contain NO LEAD PAINT, preapproved demolition wood.
Leaves MUST be placed in brown paper recycling bags. Bags are available at any home improvement store.

The County now has a full-time electronic waste collection center located at 1316 Hilltop Rd. in Leesport , PA. It's open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays from 8AM to Noon. Cost is $2 per item and $20 per television.
