The pavilions are at Hill Road, Lake Drive and Amity Community Park. Amenities include a kitchen area with a sink, refrigerator and microwave. There are 18 tables under the pavilion with overhead lighting, 6 outlets under the pavilion and one inside the kitchen area. This park has public restrooms, walking paths, basketball and tennis courts, soccer, football &amp; multi-purpose fields, and baseball fields (none of these amenities are exclusive to the rentals of the pavilion) and there is always a chance of sporting events taking place during a rental.<br \/>\n<em><strong>BUTCH BOYER PAVILION <\/strong><\/em>is located approximately 200 feet from the parking lot and within 1300 feet of the playground. Amenities include 4 tables under the pavilion with overhead lighting, 4 outlets under the pavilion and 3 inside the concession area. This park has public restrooms, basketball and tennis courts and ball fields (none of these amenities are exclusive to the rentals of the pavilion) and there is always a chance of sporting events taking place during a rental.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Lake Drive Park<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nLake Drive Park is a 25 acre recreation site located on both sides of Lake Drive between Park Lane and Rosewood Drive in the original residential community of Amity Gardens. The park contains restroom facilities, two baseball fields with manual scoreboards, two basketball courts, a skateboard park, tennis courts, a playground, a short walking trail, and a picnic area with a pavilion available for rent. The pavilion has overhead lighting, 8 tables, and 4 electrical outlets. Parking is onsite, as well as across Lake Drive. Renting the pavilion does not give exclusive access to the other recreation amenities as this is a public park.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Hill Road Recreational Area<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Hill Road Pavilion can be reserved and rented for large gatherings or parties. Hill Road Recreational Area is a 10 acre recreational site on the east side of Hill Road. It is located between Loyalsock Drive and Antietam Drive, adjacent to West Ridge. Amenities include 12 tables under a lighted pavilion with 2 outlets. There is no kitchen facility available at this park. There is some parking on site, with additional parking approximately 500 feet across the street from the pavilion. There is a playground on the far side of the park (facing Letort Lane), approximately 400 feet from the pavilion. There is a high likelihood of baseball games or tournaments occurring during a rental as this is DBAA&#8217;s main facility, giving them priority use.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Locust Grove Recreational Area<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nLocust Grove Recreational Area is a .4 acre park located in a residential area of Amity known as Earlville. the park is situated between 2nd Street and 3rd Street, Amity Ave and Shore Ave. Facilities available at Locust Grove include a basketball\/street hockey court, playground equipment and picnic tables.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Monocacy Hill Recreation Area<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nMonocacy Hill Recreation Area is a unique 420 acre undeveloped wooded area that Amity purchased in 1968 with federal, state and municipal funds. This picturesque natural preserve is situated in the southern part of the Township between Monocacy Hill Road, Geiger Road, Hill Road, US 422 and Limekiln Road. The park is managed and operated by volunteers from the Monocacy Hill Conservation Association.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.monocacyhill.org\">www.monocacyhill.org<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Myron S. Wheeler Recreational Area<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nMyron S. Wheeler Recreational Area is located behind the 6 acre Township Building site on Weavertown Road. There is currently a Remote Control racetrack on the site built by Park Lane Hobbies. While they hold races there occasionally, the track is available at other times for resident use; however, it is not rented for any coordinated\/sponsored events.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Amity Park Road Recreation Area<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nAmity Park Road Recreation Area is located between Amity Park Road and Monocacy Hill Road adjacent to the Amity Athletic Club, a non-profit sports organization and swim club. The park is 7 acres and contains two full size soccer fields leased to the Amity AC.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Amity Athletic Club Pool and Recreation Area<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nAmity Athletic Club Pool and Recreation Area is a 27 acre property owned and operated by the Amity Athletic Club which is managed by a nine person board of directors. Facilities include soccer fields and two pools. For more information visit www.amityac.org[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Thun Trail<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nThe Thun Trail between Reading and Pottstown is owned by Schuylkill Greenways Association. Amity\u2019s portion of the trail is located between Union Township, where the trail crosses the Schuylkill River and Douglass Township.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Old Morlatton Village<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe Mouns Jones property was acquired by the Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County in 1965. The Trust manages and maintains many historic properties throughout Berks County. The Annual Mouns Jones Country Fair utilizes the Amity site to feature working craftsmen and their crafts in appropriate historical settings. The Township enacted a Zoning Ordinance in 1991 and a Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance in 1992. Amity\u2019s Parks and Recreation Plan went into effect in 1993. Since that time, Amity has developed physically, added many new residents and expanded its parks and open space system.<\/div>\n<div id=\"wb_Image1\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"wb_Text2\">\n<p>The demand for recreation in the municipality and the importance of preserving open space have grown accordingly. This updated plan describes how Amity should be addressing parks, recreational and open space needs- both current needs and those likely to arise over the next ten years. The focus is on ensuring that residents always have opportunities to enjoy their leisure time locally.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contents of the Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>Important background information has been collected and mapped to support the policies and recommendations in this Plan.
