Board of Supervisors

The Township of Amity is a second class township governed by a Board of Supervisors, who are elected for six year terms by the qualified voters of the Township. the Supervisors, elected during the odd-numbered years, serve both legislative and executive functions. Their powers and responsibilities include:

• Charged with the general governance of the township and the execution of legislative, executive and administrative powers in order to ensure sound fiscal management and to secure the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the Township.
• Have the responsibility for maintenance of the Township owned equipment and facilities.
• Enact ordinances for building, zoning and the health, safety and welfare of the residents.

The Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7PM at 2004 Weavertown Road, Douglassville, PA 19518. Workshop sessions are advertised for the 1st Wednesday at 7pm; however, they are only held as needed. The Second Class Township Code, amended in October 2024 allows the Board of Supervisors to receive $5,450 per year (based on current population).  The Amity Township Supervisors have agreed not to raise their $2,500 per year compensation (this has remained level for many years, even though the law previously allowed up to $3,250).
